Trauma therapy is a therapeutic approach that helps people process and recover from psychological trauma. Trauma can arise from distressing or overwhelming experiences, such as neglect, violence, accidents, bereavement, or prolonged stress. In trauma therapy, we work gently with thoughts, emotions and the body’s reactions, so the nervous system can begin to find calm and balance again. The aim is to reduce symptoms such as anxiety, hypervigilance, flashbacks, emotional numbness or feeling out of control – and to strengthen a sense of safety, self-understanding and quality of life.
